Cooky Diets

So, Little Lani eats right? I try. When we have the money, we are more strict.
What are my diet(s)? I go by a mix. (Dukan update at bottom)

- General Pyramid
- Blood Type Diet
- Gluten Free

Oh, and currently calorie counting.

Yes I suppose that sounds like alot to juggle. To some it make be. To me? Well, its not as easy as grabbing frozen food or any old fast food crap. The calorie counting I feel is the second most burdensome. Though, its the one that will be the least important soon enough. Its not a forever thing, its a "Lani needed to lose weight after quitting smoking" thing.

-------------------------------------

Calorie Counting

Lets sum this up quickly. YOU COUNT YOUR CALORIC INTAKE.
I find this easier with MyFitnessPal.com, or even WebMD has one. But tools like that help to keep up with food and exercise. Even nutrition.
Your caloric intake is based on your height, age and activity level. As well as how much you wish to lose. This info can be found on sites like FreeDieting.com, or also WebMD. Just Google the term "calorie intake calculator" and pick a link.

The more you move, work out, whatever, the more you can eat. Because the more your body NEEDS as fuel. Also, one must know that there is a "BMR" (base metabolic rate) of what your body REQUIRES TO EXIST. You are advised against going under 1200 cals per day. Also, its best to eat breakfast, and 5 or 6 small meals are preferred.

For weight loss, deduct 250, to 500 cals from your maintenance calorie intake.
And think your calories through, don't just eat rice cakes all day. Think of healthy calorie dense foods. Nuts and veggies are great snacks.

Blood Type Diet

There is alot to explain here, But I will try to sum it up as best I can.
There are 4 blood types. 0, A, B, & AB. Each has evolved differently and makes your body different genetically, specific to that type. 0's, as I am, have much more intense stomach acids. And our bodys digest foods Differently than the others would. A sample chart from Dr. Lam....

This shows that certain foods can not only cause illness and intolerance, but (as listed above) actual weight gain. Or prevention of weight loss.

If one chooses to follow the rules, rules and info you can look up easy on either of the doctors/authors website, then you WILL felel better. Healthier, stronger, brighter, more energetic.

I'd suggest a good read if I were you. I'd dare not try to explain more myself, for fear of confusing people.

Me? I'm a meat eater . My types need RED MEAT the most. The more stressful and active our lives, the more we need. Our best buds are RED MEAT, LEAFY GREEN VEGGIES, AND DARK BERRIES/PLUMS. Avoiding carbs and starches that can fatten us up, as well as mold containing foods, as we are more likely to carry a sensitivity to them.

Before hubby and I fell upon tighter times, when no purse strings were pulled taunt, we were following this one quite strictly. AND WE BOTH FELT FABULOUS! It makes you just feel great.
We will be returning to that when a few things get fixed.

Gluten Free Diet

Gluten free is less of a choice, more of a "uh-oh", doc prescribed sorta thing. You find out your intolerant, allergic or all out celiac, and are forced to rethink you choices of carbs/grains.

WHEAT ... ITS EVERYWHERE, IN EVERYTHING!

The most popular, widespread, versitle, and cheap of grains. This plants popularity only "rises" further for its fantastic ability to....well, RISE. Because it contains GLUTEN. Gluten is difficult for some bodies to break down, and is highly debated these days on how "healthy" it actually is. There has been a DRAMATIC increase in the number of people with full fledged celiac disease. And intolerance is on a huge rise as well. BUT THIS CRAP IS HARD TO REPLACE IN BOTH ITS FUNCTION AND ITS PRICE!

"Gluten Free" Flours and foods, etc, are harder to work with, as well as find, and are EXPENSIVE! Making this diet very frustrating at times. Though, good news is, that since the illness towards the wheat is on the rise, so are the production of these types of goods. Meaning, "gluten free" could become as common a term in our households as "low sugar" or "fat free".

General Rules

General tips include REDUCE FATS (unhealthy ones mostly, healthy fats are good for you in the right amounts), as well as reducing empty carbs, processed foods, sodium, and sugar.

Eat Protiens, veggies, fruits, and healthy grains. Dairy can be good for you also, like yogurt, but only if your not intolerant of it.

WebMD has quite a bit of articles and videos on it. I suggest you explore. Remember eating healthy does mean "dieting". Thats for weight loss. And 'Dieting" doesn't mean starving yourself with celery and carrots. Eat balanced.

DUKAN DIET

Ok, lets add on my new (temp) diet, The Dukan Diet. The Dukan Diet is a slope designed to stabilize "your true weight" and by its phases, help to glide you into a normal healthy lifestyle. It not only has weight reducing effects but optimizes your health. Its been compared to Atkins, and a little like the "Paleo Diet". You start out 3-10 days (depending on your personal results given) on a MEAT ONLY phase, but lean healthy meats. Then certain veggies are introduced in phase 2. and in phase three "consolidation" it slowly slips you a bit further back into real world by now letting you eat a few other things, as well as have "celebrational" meals (2 per week). After you are required to keep up not only the "walk twenty everyday" rule given at beginning, but have one meat day, and continue eating your daily oat bran suggested. The diet has helped improve alot of diabetics and other ppl with ailments. I'm hoping to improve my intolerances brought on by my digestive candida problem. Which has gotten SO MUCH WORSE!

After, I'll update or comment below letting you know how it went. it lasts a few months, so it will prob be closer to holidays when I'm done. Please click the link included in the above paragraph to learn more! Very interesting!
